If the material is fairly easy to melt you may be able to use and old iron to melt or soften it up and then wipe it away with a cloth. If big globs remain you might need to scrape lightly with a razor blade and repeat the acetone and polish. Cut the rubber -- or the remainder of the rubber -- away from the metal with a sharp serrated knife.
I dont think this would work real well if there is much rubber built up on the pipe but it might. Allow the exhaust to. While the exhaust is hot spray some Easy Off Bam oven cleaner on top of the residue then wait a few minutes and wash it with some soap and water.
