How To Clean Soldering Iron
To remove solder you must use a desoldering tool in conjunction with a soldering iron.
How to clean soldering iron. Wipe the iron on a damp sponge to remove the excess. I have recently as in less then a month ago obtained Multitip 25 ERSA Microsoldering iron with 0172BD10 tip. First Ive read though questions Soldering Iron Maintenance and Going through Soldering tips quickly and was unable to solve my problem.
When the job is complete apply a final thin layer of solder to the tip and let it cool. Use fluxes Spongeless and metal wool to remove small amounts of contaminants from your soldering iron tips during soldering circuit board or any other components. Switch on the Soldering Station or the Iron and Make sure it is Hot Enough.
Work quickly carefully and as close as possible to the soldering area for best results. Then dip the tip in the cleaner and do a slight twist action. In other words the soldering iron tip must be shiny.
Move the sponge all around the tip and clean. Melt some good quality of solder wire on the Tip. Continue to apply a thin layer of flux-core solder to your iron.
Turn it off as soon as you have finished soldering. This should lead to a clean shiny tip ready for use. Let it cool down for at least 15 minutes after the last use before you clean it.
In such a way you will be able to clean thoroughly. Once clean and shiny perform tinning and now your tool is ready to use. Secondly heat the solder and pour on the tip of the soldering iron and clean it again.
