How to clean memory foam headphones. Some headphones may have a plastic adapter which needs to be removed without breaking before you can remove the cushion. For me that was around a month and a half of regular listening. Foam earplugs are bound to float so it will be necessary to hold them and keep them immersed underwater for a few minutes.
Get rid of the dirty water. I use disposable foam earplugs to help me sleep. While submerged in water scrub earplugs with your fingers to remove build-up grime and dirt.
Start by gently dry brushing the wax out of the earbud. Remove the foam from the warm water and squeeze out as much water as possible. They seem to be made of memory foam based on the way they slowly expand after being squeezed.
As for comply tips once they start to break down in structure and arent firm anymore thats when I would recommend replacing them. Remove the foam tip Wash the foam tips with soap and water. They may just need a good cleaning.
Once thats done if you still see a waxy build up dip a cotton swab in rubbing alcohol tap it off. The safest way to clean ear wax is using a good ear wax remover that can deliberately clean them with micro foam action. Take them off for a while and wipe down with a clean cloth.
Cleaning products tend to disintegrate foam ear tips and water is generally the only recommended substance to use for cleaning. However sometimes this cleaning may look like a waste of time to you. Do not clean tips with alcohol-based cleaning solutions.
